San Francisco Library Offers Refuge - And a Social Worker - For the Homeless

For dozens of homeless and marginally housed people, the library near the Civic Center is a refuge offering six floors of seating, access to books, magazines, movies and a bathroom. For the past few years, it's also had a resource that makes the branch here a pioneer in the changing attitude toward homeless library patrons – a full-time social worker.
