In-depth article about McCartney and Kronos on RollingStone.com by local SF rock historian, Richie Unterberger http://www.rollingstone.com/music/videos/kronos-quartet-backs-paul-mccartney-on-yesterday-at-outside-lands-20130810

The excitement stirred wasn’t just because it was “any Beatle sighting”. The excitement was because Paul McCartney gave a brilliant, moving performance of timeless songs. Also, he hardly showed up to be “sighted.” He rocked the crowd. Further, what’s with the “you had to be there” or of a generation comment? The twenty-somethings I met were as every bit as excited, if not more, than the older folks in the audience. Was KQED’s John Brooks even there? Seems like he wasn’t.

I’ve seen many shows in y 57 years (including Paul in ’04). This was easily, without any doubt, the most remarkable and moving show I have ever witnessed. It was beyond magical. It literally brought me to tears, not an easy accomplishment. If you weren’t there, I’m sorry.
