Obama Welcomes (Last Place) Giants at White House
In some ways, President Obama and the San Francisco Giants are having the same season: lots of promise coming out of November, and then … well think of the Republicans as the Dodgers to keep the analogy going.
On Monday, the president welcomed the Giants to the White House to hail their 2012 World Series victory. (Ever the politician, no mention of their current woes.) He also lauded the team’s Junior Giants program, commended the organization for being the first pro sports franchise to create an “It Gets Better” video, and also for plans to create an edible garden at AT&T Park. However, he said, “It’s okay to have a hotdog once in awhile,” attributing the comment to Michelle.
Besides the team, Willie Mays was on hand, as was Mayor Lee. Bruce Bochy, with Buster Posey at his side, presented the president with a World Series ball and bat.
“You should know, I can’t read any of your signatures,” Obama said.
