Each year, thanks to the generosity of artist Marion Cilker, San Jose State University and the Santa Clara County Office of Education host two days of inspiration for both pre-service and in-service arts educators. KQED will be there to present a workshop about KQED Art School, and other presenters include SFMOMA, AXIS Dance, and TheaterWorks of Silicon Valley.
This film is the summation of explorations of sorts — experimenting with different methods of filming, creating special effects with household items, testing the patience of a crew of high schoolers, transporting props and crew using only our parents as a source of transportation, and editing and re-editing on computers that are prone to breaking down.
In “Kenna’s Rebirth,” 17-year-old BayKids filmmaker Kenna leaves her viewers profoundly touched by her courage and wisdom. When Kenna got together with BayKids Studios, she knew exactly what she wanted to do: make a film that would inspire and help children like herself waiting for a bone marrow transplant.
