What Does it Mean to Be Poor in America?

While America is supposedly recovering from the Great Recession in 2008, the American household does not show the same type of growth. The U.S. Census Bureau released a series of 2012 income data that shows the average household income has not changed between 2011 and 2012. In both of these years, 15% of Americans were in poverty. Andy Warner, a graphic journalist, explains in a comic infograph why the household income is stagnant and what it means for struggling American families.
