The chicken and waffles is probrably good at BrownSugar Kitchen, but —- Auntie April’s are better!

I have not been to this resturant as yet. But, my mouth was watering just reading the menu. Sounds like a wonderfull home cooking type place. Even liver and onions which are hard to find these days. I am planing a group of 4 to come up from my home church in San Jose. Jubilee Christian Center. We need a church resturant like this and a training program for cooks and resturant workers. Love the idea and would rather support the church with my hard earned money. Blessings to all involved.

I tried Brown Sugar after seeing the them on the show and reading about them in a local magazine.  I was super excited to try the food since I had heard so many good things.  HUGE disappointment.  I went with my sister and husband, my sister had a dish with rice that was painfully undercooked and my husband had the fried chicken which was okay but nothing great.  We ordered a side of macaroni and cheese because I’m a sucker for any variation of cheesy noodles, unfortunately it was terrible hardly any cheese too many bread crumbs and also seemed to be undercooked.  The service was incredibly slow and not the friendliest, the only upside to our visit was that we didn’t have to wait since we went on a week day.  Overall, our food and service was bad to mediocre; maybe we just caught them on a bad day, but our first and only experience wont allow us to return.
