Update: KQED’s Sutro Tower transmitter was returned to full power on 12/12/2011.
KQED’s Over The Air (OTA) transmitter on Sutro Tower in San Francisco is currently operating at half power due to an equipment failure, and will be operating at that level for an as yet unspecified amount of time. The manufacturer has been contacted, but a repair date is not yet known.
This may affect fringe areas of KQED OTA coverage, but most viewers should not see any difference in their reception. Cable is not affected. When more info becomes available re: the schedule for repair this post will be updated.
KQED Television and KQED Radio will be participating in the nationwide EAS test at 11am, which will last between 30 and 60 seconds. Normal programming will resume immediately after the test.
