KQED cements its position as the destination for coverage of the 2012 election in Northern California with its in-depth reporting from the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. This Week in Northern California host and award-winning journalist Belva Davis is reporting on the California delegations at the Democratic and Republican National Conventions for the public affairs program on KQED 9. The two convention specials will run Friday, August 31, at 7:30pm for the Republican Convention held in Tampa, FL, and Friday, September 7, at 7:30pm for the Democratic Convention held in Charlotte, NC. Confirmed interviews include such esteemed political figures as Senator Dianne Feinstein, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Representative Kevin McCarthy and California Attorney General Kamala Harris. KQED Public Radio (88.5FM) will air the This Week convention specials on Friday, August 31, at 9pm and Friday, September 7, at 9pm. Davis, who will retire from the host chair following the November 9 program, bookends her storied career with her coverage of these iconic election events. “I began my career with the coverage of the 1964 elections and I’m thrilled that I will be devoting my last months on the air to the elections of 2012,” says Davis, who has received several dozen awards for her journalism, including eight local Emmys.
