Stockton May File for Bankruptcy

Next week, Stockton's city council is expected to take steps to begin filing for bankruptcy. It would be the largest city in the nation to file for Chapter 9 protection, the Stockton Record reports.

Vallejo came out of bankruptcy in August, 2011.


STOCKTON - The City Council on Tuesday is expected to take its first step toward filing for bankruptcy in a dramatic move to remedy Stockton's crippling finances. If bankruptcy ultimately happens, Stockton would be the nation's largest city to fall into Chapter 9 protection.
