San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee is clarifying his comments about a controversial stop-and-frisk policy used to reduce violent crime in other major cities, including New York and Philadelphia.

Lee said in a statement Tuesday that he is not considering a policy that will violate anyone’s constitutional rights and result in racial profiling, but he is “willing to move forward with bold ideas that get to results.”

Lee told a local newspaper editorial board last month that he wants to consider the stop-and-risk policy to reduce gun violence after a recent spike in homicides led to the city’s deadliest month in nearly four years.

Lee’s comments on Tuesday came shortly after opponents of a stop and frisk initiative held a noontime rally outside City Hall and delivered a petition of more than 2,000 signatures opposed to the idea.

    San Franciscans thought they were
voting for a technocrat, but instead it’s beginning to look like a
    “Night Mayor.”

“Night Mayor” Ed Lee is determined
to offend, disappoint and generally make mischief on the people of
San Francisco. What’s surprising is that he agrees with the the rest
of San Francisco that tearing down the Hetch Hetchy O’Shaughnessy Dam
is a wacky idea, but it seems we might take a hard-right turn with
Mayor Ed Lee considering a “Stop and Frisk” policy.

    He want’s to “seriously consider”
implementation of a “Stop and Frisk” Policy in San Francisco
against the wishes of almost everyone. His reasons are simple. He
spoke to the infamous “Stop and Frisk” fiend, NYC “Night Mayor”
and billionaire Michael Bloomberg. The problem here is that San
Francisco is not NYC. We’re more like Boston – small and diverse.

Mayor Lee also thinks that “Stop and
Frisk” could/will prevent an attack like the one in Colorado! OK,
I’m no psychiatrist, but our “Night Mayor” Lee is beginning to
sound like he might need some counseling and therapy. This is known
as magical thinking, delusional and therefore; not reality.

    The African-American population in San
Francisco is officially 6%, and falling. This is the target
population of the NYC “Stop and Frisk” Policy along with
Hispanics. Somehow I don’t think “Night Mayor” Lee will target
the Jewish Population here. So, we have to assume that his policy
will target the same demographic as NYC. And the more confrontations
between these young men and police will increase the number of those
encounters that turn deadly. However; this seems to be what “Night
Mayor” Lee would like to “seriously consider.”

First they came for the Gypsies and I
didn’t speak out, because I wasn’t a Gypsy. When the came for the
    Communist and I didn’t speak out, because I wasn’t a Communist, Then
they came for the trade unionists, and I didn’t speak out because I
wasn’t a trade unionist. When they came for the Jews and I didn’t
speak out because I wasn’t a Jew. When they came for me there was no
    one left to speak out!

    Loose quotation attributed to Pastor
Martin Niemöller after the Nazis came to power in Germany.

San Francisco deserves better than this
from its chief executive. It may be inappropriate to use the “R”
word(recall), but this is definitely one term behavior and worse!
