In November, the San Francisco Arts Commission selected three design proposals as finalists for a San Francisco Veterans Memorial, to be located across the street from City Hall. Today, those designs were made public, and they’ll be on display in the Veterans Building main lobby at 401 Van Ness Avenue until June 22. The winner is slated to be formally dedicated on Veterans Day, Nov 11, 2012.

Here are the images of the proposals. Click on each photo to see all of the images from each design and read a description.

Passage of Remembrance

Am I crazy, or is The Wreath of Remembrance a titch reminiscent of Starfleet Academy, which, as everyone knows, is located in San Francisco, circa 2300.

To read about how long it actually took the city to get on the stick in regard to a veterans memorial, check out the item by John King at the bottom of the Chronicle City Insider today.

It’s a halo of angles that encircle this great building! I love it!!!
We have so many hard heavy masses in sculpture it’s nice to see something fresh that give up a visual and audible experience.
