From the Wall Street Journal’s Women in the Economy Conference, here’s video of former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor relating in her inimitable style how she had a devil of a time getting an interview let alone landing a job after graduating near the top of her class at Stanford Law.
The reason? You guessed it, overt job discrimination against women.
So how did she finally commence what turned out to be an illustrious legal career? By offering to start work at no pay and sharing a secretary’s office at the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.
