Quick Look: Researchers Introduce a New Model of “Connected Learning”

At the Digital Media and Learning conference in San Francisco last week, a group of researchers announced they will examine how social networking, games, and online sharing affect learning, along with the effect of mentoring relationships with peers and adults, especially how it relates to civic engagement and learning in marginalized communities. A team of researchers has introduced a new learning model that aims to tap into the potential of information and online collaboration available to youth in their daily lives. Speaking this evening at the Digital Media & Learning Conference in San Francisco, the researchers cited an ever-widening gap between in-school and out-of-school learning.

    Maria Montessori. Read about her methods and you will see this is old news, and well proven to be FACT. This is precisely the right track, but modern educators don’t seem to be willing to see that. We have a public school Montessori program here in Spokane, Washington. It’s WONDERFUL! Two of my three children went through it (oldest was too old to start when we moved here). They are simply thriving in their High School and college environments, and, I’m sure, will continue to do so as professionals. They will never stop being hungry for learning. This is the greatest gift anyone can get from someone trying to “educate” them.
