Students Learn at Their Own Pace in the Future School Day

Each student learns at his or her own pace in the ideal school day of the future, according to Christopher Rush, co-founder of the School of One.

In practice, this is already happening with the New York school pilot program. A student arrives in school in the morning and answers five questions that will be calculated in a customized algorithm to figure out what she’ll be doing that day. That algorithm will decide which teacher she’ll work with, her level of learning based on what she learned the previous day, and her specific activities.

The movement toward personalized instructions has been around for a while, but maybe it’s technology that can help get to that goal.

    Preach it man, preach it. I am also a middle school student, and sometimes I comprehend and learn things faster that my fellow classmates and quite frankly, its plain annoying. You basicly burn a whole class re-learning something, when you could be learning a whole new lesson. That said, Mr. Rush, yopu sir, are my new best friend haha.

    I’m surprised to see the header saying Future schools, a century ago, Maria Montessori discovered how children learn things naturally so she challenged the traditional system and start discovering more in her CASA DI BAMBINI, and now more than 20,000 Montessori schools are operating around the globe with the 4 main focus points;

    1. One to One learning as against group instruction

    2. Mixed age group on the assumption that older children are there to be role models and younger get more easily inspired by observing an older child working instead of her teacher.

    3. Children learns at their own pace ;nobody is rushed to follow or complete certain curriculum, they learn by following their own pace.

    4. Children choose their work themselves(subject and timings) rather than being selected by teachers…

    So for me ,this Montessori system is there for the last 100 years ,but the bad thing is that its not get notified by educationists, policy makers and politicians who are always busy in finding something New.
