Stream On!

September 20th, 2005

Thanks to the wizardry of Colleen Wilson, a/k/a my Benevolent Webmistress, you may now watch The Josh Kornbluth Show online, in streaming video. Just click on the "TV Program" tab at the top of this page, then scroll down.

And thanks to everyone who wrote in to the blog with your comments requesting the streams. Your voices (including my mom's) were heard!

I believe that on the internet the proper response to such a thing is “w00t!”, but by the time I hear of such things the kids have moved on to something else. By now they’re probably making machinima tributes to Colleen and exposing themselves via web services. Or something.

Trevor, I’m so behind the curve that your comment is the first I’ve heard of either “w00t!” or “machinima”! But any and all such tributes to Colleen would be more than hecka-justified.

Thanks for putting the streaming video online.

It would be great to have a page for each show that people could link to (or email to their friends to watch). It would also make the shows more googleable.

Also. you should definately put mp3 up of at least the interviews and podcast them.

And for the show with Craig you (collectively meaning KQED) should consider making a downloadable video and providing torrent. If it is slashdotted and boing boinged, it is possible more people might watch that show online than on television if it is easy enough for people (or at least geeks) to get.

Those are both excellent suggestions, Steve — thanks!

Those are all great suggestions. We would like to offer a podcasting version at some point. Josh and KQED are taking an experimental approach to the show so its format is evolving a bit. I didn’t want to come up with a podcasting plan without first seeing how the show was developing and finding out from our viewers if they were interested. It’s great to hear from folks like you.

As for offering a torrent version, we are considering adding The Josh Kornbluth Show into the Open Media Network service. Are you familiar with it? Basically it is free public service of downloadable movies, public TV and radio, video blogs and podcasts. We have several KQED programs in there already such as Spark. Here’s the link: OMN.

I’ll explore some options for creating a podcast version of the show. As always, you can look for all news on that front here on Josh’s blog.
