About Matej Praprotnik
I received a Bachelor of Communication Science from University of Ljubljana, and am currently employed as a journalist at Slovenia’s public broadcaster RTV Slovenija. Once reporting on issues related to European Union, I now focus mainly on science and innovation stories and investigate further opportunities for radio’s role in education. I am also a keen on podcasting, as it is a superb opportunity to extend and strengthen public radio’s brand. Radio should not only produce good stories but also store them – so they can easily be heard and used again.
Media branding and radio branding in particular are further topics I focused on as a student at University of Ljubljana and exchange student at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. I lecture radio programming at a private media school in Ljubljana, and nonetheless, once a week host a prime time morning show on Radio Slovenija 2 – Val 202, which is the leading radio brand in Slovenia with highest audience share.
This blog is a result of my Innovation Journalism fellowship at Stanford University. My host newsroom is KQED, so you will be able to follow all of my stories either here, and sometimes on Radio Slovenija 2. Thus, some of the podcasts and posts will be in Slovene.
