I phoned to make reservations for 6 on a Thursday night and was asked for credit card info. I wasn't entering into a transaction….so, I refused to give them my numbers and said forgeddit. Someone called to confirm the next day and when I told her why I wasn't going to be there, she offered to bend the rules. Bleh, change your policy! San Francisco has too many great restaurants to put up with that crappy practice. We went to Chapeau! and my credit card had a lovely time!

10/16 We got reservations for Saturday for 6:30
no question pertaining to credit card number was asked
but I probably could be heard saying "don't give them
    any Credit Card numbers!"

Asking for a credit card for a party of six is hardly bad service. It's just a healthy reminder to call if you've changed your mind.
