After watching the episode featuring Saylor's Landing today, Saturday, February 2, 2008, I was disappointed to realize that Check Please! and it's recommendations may not be timely. In fact, they may be seriously out of date by the time they air. Saylor's Landing has closed. Sean Saylor now owns a restaurant in the old space of Sausalito's Guernica, called, I believe, Saylor's South of the Border. Some of the dishes from Saylor's Landing remain on the new menu, but, as the name indicates, there is more of a south of the border emphasis than a fish emphasis. I would have like to have seen an acknowledgment on the TV screen of this.

I have to agree with the reviewer who thought the clam chowder was "GLOP".
I have been to Saylor's Landing twice and was so intensely disappointed both times and felt the food was prepared with way too much salt and the sauces very ordinary. I also agree that the woman from California who recommended Saylor's is too easily pleased.
The 2nd time we went to Saylor's I knew I would be disappointed so I ordered a salad to just get through the meal. Even my salad was horrendous. The dressing was too acidic and left a puddle in the bottom of my plate. Too pricey for such an ordinary restaurant.
For really fresh fish I think F.I.S.H. across the parking lot is much better. Funky funky outdoor picnic tables, drinks served in mason jars, and the fish is delicous and simple.
Of all the GREAT fish restaurants and especially in Sausalito, Saylor's doesn't make my list. Sorry, too.

Took my elderly landlady here a few years back. We usually went to Frantoio but decided to try something new. Dinner was OK but disappointing in comparison to Frantoio, and not that much less money. We decided we wouldn't go back, and I have not been back since. I must side with the reviewer on TV tonight who thought the New England Clam Chowder was not proper. The self described 'California Girl' was too easily pleased. I make NE CC, and it is NOT thick, made properly in the New England Style. Sorry.
