Igancio sets off on a road trip from Guadalajara to San Luis Rio Colorado after graduating medical school. After a full day of driving, Ignacio makes it to the state of Sonora. He’s getting close to his destination, and is distracted as he drives recklessly through the desert. He becomes annoyed when he is stopped by two federales at road-side checkpoint in the middle of nowhere. After a brief exchange of words with one of the federales named Griego, Ignacio is asked to pull over to the side of the road for further inspection.

Appeared in Season 5 | Episode 2 | “Blood & Water”

La Graduacion is directed by Rafael Gomez.

Rafael Gomez was born in Mazatlan, Mexico where he grew up watching his VHS of the 1998 film Godzilla on repeat (yeah, the one with Mathew Broderick). After moving to the United States at an early age, he attended film school at the University of Arizona where he skipped class regularly to shoot documentaries in northern Mexico. His work and point of view are deeply influenced by his country of origin; admiring the work of filmmakers working in Mexico such as Amat Escalante, Carlos Reygadas, and Michel Franco. Rafael often cries at movies and now lives in Los Angeles where he works as a commercial cinematographer, colorist, and editor.
