Luke Matheny is a filmmaker, writer, actor and professor currently based in Santa Monica, California. His short film God of Love won the 2011 Academy Award for Best-Live Action Short, as well as the King Award for Screenwriting at the NYU First Run Film Festival.
His previous short film Earano, a loose retelling of the Cyrano de Bergerac tale, won an honorable mention at the Angelus Student Film Festival and Best Student Short at the Dam Short Film Festival in Boulder City, Nevada.
Luke grew up in Wilmington, Delaware. He has a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and has worked as a reporter and copy editor in newspapers, magazines and websites. He has also worked as a synopsis writer for Netflix and as a story editor for the MTV series MADE. He graduated with an MFA in Film from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2010.
