Jules Nurrish

Honored in 2011 as a “Brit to Watch” by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), Jules Nurrish is a screenwriter and film director based in Los Angeles. A graduate of the Master’s Program in Directing at the UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television, she has written and directed ten short films which have screened at film festivals and cultural institutions worldwide, including the British Film Institute and the Director’s Guild of America.

Her film Bend It was an official selection of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for the Iris Prize in Short Film. Nurrish’s hard-hitting film Kiss Me, starring Raúl Castillo (Don’t Let Me Drown, Cold Weather) as a fighter struggling in the East LA boxing world, premiered at the Palm Springs International ShortFest, garnering her the Alexis Award for Best Emerging Filmmaker.

She is in development on her first feature film Feint, based on Kiss Me.
