Born and bred in Denver, Erin began filmmaking in high school when her shorts garnered titles such as “Best of State” and “Best of Region.” After a review of her early portfolio, The National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts placed her in the top 5% of artists in the nation.
Erin graduated with honors from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2012, earning a BFA in Film & Television production. Her thesis film Bombshell swept top prizes at NYU’s First Run Film Festival, receiving First Prize, The King Screenwriting Award, and The Wasserman Directing Award. The film premiered at the Nantucket Film Festival and has since screened at film festivals, at the Director’s Guild of America in Los Angeles, at Lincoln Center in New York City, and was also in competition for a Student Academy Award.
Following graduation, Erin was hired to direct her first documentary short, The Next Part, which follows a double-amputee Army EOD specialist and his wife as they grapple with his injuries amid unexpected events. The film premiered at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury Mention.
