“Essential Pépin” wins an IACP Award!

IACP New Media Winner BadgeOn April 2, “Essential Pépin” won the IACP Award for TV Series in the New Media & Broadcast Category!

Jacques Pépin responds to winning the award:

“It is very gratifying as this is the first time that the IACP has an award for broadcast media.”

Jacques Pépin was also nominated for two IACP book awards: the Culinary Classic Book Award for “La Technique: An Illustrated Guide to the Fundamental Techniques of Cooking” and the General Cookbook Award for “Essential Pépin: More than 700 All-Time Favorites from My Life in Food.”

Jacques won a Culinary Classic Book Award but in the General Cookbook category, “All About Roasting” by Molly Steven won the IACP award over “Essential Pépin” and John Besh’s “My Family Table: A Passionate Plea for Home Cooking.”


KQED’s TV series “Essential Pépin” was nominated for two prestigious culinary awards in 2012

On February 12, “Essential Pépin” was nominated for an IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals) award for TV Series under the new category New Media & Broadcast Award.

On March 19, “Essential Pépin” was nominated for a 2012 James Beard Award in Broadcast Media under the category: Television Program, in Studio or Fixed Location.

Jacques Pépin’s responds to the nominations:

“I am elated to have been nominated for a Beard as well as a IACP award for “Essential Pépin.” This is a testament to the generosity and professionalism of KQED and to the gift and talent of our team especially Tina Salter my producer; Bruce Franchini, Director; Michael Isip, Executive Producer.”
