The Best Songs Represent the Good Times We’ve Shared
Do you remember the song that you played with friends on your way to the beach? Or maybe the lyrics that seemed to have been written specifically for you after a bad break up? In the last two weeks, students across the country discussed how certain songs impact their lives in our #DoNowSong post. We asked students What are some of the best lyrics written and why are they meaningful to you? If you were to write a song, what would it be about?
Songs possess the power to evoke happy or sad memories, even ones that happened a long time ago. They stir up emotions, connect people together and convey messages that help us preserve through difficult times. As artist Jay Z said in a Rolling Stone article: “When you hear a great song, you can think of where you were when you first heard it, the sounds, the smells. It takes the emotions of a moment and holds it for years to come. It transcends time.”
For the past couple of weeks, students posted their favorite songs, anything written by artists from Ed Sheeran to Led Zeppelin, explaining why the song is the most important to them. While students posted a wide variety of songs, the songs that meant the most to them conveyed a positive message or reminded them of friends and family.
