Dear Jennifer,

I am sorry you had a bad experience but I think the restaurant staff must not have realized how much more business they would get after the airing of the episode. Every time I have been there, which is more than 15 times, I have never had to wait and got seated and served right away. I think after the buzz dies down a little, you might want to try it again?

Also, they had no idea that I was going to review their restaurant ant I always had great service.

My family went to Sahn Maru for dinner after seeing the afternoon airing of Check Please featuring this restaurant. We like trying different restaurants so it was no question for us after we heard the great reviews. Unfortunately our experience was nothing close to the great customer service reviews mentioned in the couple of reviews.
Yes, the food was good, but it does not stand-out compared to the other Korean restaurants we've been to. Customer service was another story... We got to the restaurant at a busy time, around 7:40 and found ourselves (my husband, 17 month old son and I) in a line outside the doors of the restaurant. There was no wait list so we waited like the others. We finally got seated at around 8:30 (1 hour wait), I guess what kept us in line are the numerous articles and postive reviews on magazines and food critics posted by the front entrance and the promise of good food. When we finally got seated at 8:30, we hurried to get our order in and got it in by 8:40. After 15 minutes, my baby's meal came out, which kept our hopes up regarding ours. But alas, we waited another 45 minutes and finally got our food at 9:40. During our wait for the food to come out, we noticed that 3 separate groups of people just got up, left and did not have the patience to wait for the food to come out. It was such a horrible dining experience over all.
I think if they knew you were a food critic, then they probably would speed things up for you. But for all the rest of us, unfortunately, we have to wait for the snail's pace service Sahn Maru offers, which ruins the good food offerings from this restaurant.
