Yellow Submarine is absolutely the best submarine sandwich joint I know of. I especially recommend the Hot Pastrami with a dash of vinegar. The host of the show was a little shaky on her math saying the place is twenty five years old-- try thirty five! And the Palestinian lady who usually makes the sandwiches has looked the same all this time. Remarkable genes.

If all you people know is chains (Quiznos, Subway) then you're not qualified reviewers of a sub shop. I from New Jersey and I've eaten at sub shops up and down the Jersey shore as well as NYC Italian, Jewish, Greek, Polish, and Russian Delis. I've not eaten at Yellow Submarine but I can tell you that if you want to compare real subs, go to:

Cheesesteak shop - 1716 Divisadero
Submarine Center - 820 Ulloa Street
Molinari's - 373 Columbus Ave
Lucca - 1100 Valencia St
Mr. Pickle - 3380 20th St
Seakor Polish Delicatessen and Sausage Factory - 5957 Geary Boulevard

Try these places, then review.

Beer first, then a yellow submarine sandwich. The yummy meatball sub is good for two meals. The fries could use a little seasoning salt, but hey, what fry couldn't. Lawreys should take a hint and market themselves along with all majpr chains. You might want to pick up a family size bag of Doritos on the way home to go with the other half of your sandwich, oh, and a gallon of milk.

I love it when my tummy hangs out!
