It's a beautiful restaurant and the crowd is a blend of everything, just like the food. The menu, as many have mentioned, is small plates broken up into 3 regions (I can only remember two so I won't list them). Unfortunately, these small plates don't come with small prices and after a $300 meal (there were 8 of us but that doens't include any drinks), we left hungry.
I should mention that since I arrived early I did get a chance to sit at the bar and have a drink, which was delicious, but at $9 each they had better be!
It also turns into a club around 10pm so after being seated late for our 9pm reservation the service felt a bit rushed. Our waitress was very attentive though so I have a feeling service is generally one of their strong points.

I joined some co-workers at Madjool and had the worst dining experience.
The food was ok.
The surroundings were to loud.
We were a large party and all of us agreed we would never return

the place looks great, it has had good reviews here at kqed and kpix so i wanted to try. went for cocktails, sitted myself and guest and no one came for an order after 10 minutes. the place was not over packed, and the staff was running around us and no one was helping. we were clean and presentable so what was the deal? had to call someone over to get a drink. seemed to have trouble getting something to go with the cocktail also. so finally no one asked if we wanted another cocktail, but a very rude waiter asked us to stand by the bar to pay our bill because they were busy. i have two words for this place and they are the same ones you'd use if you were treated so poorly.

I think it should be mentioned how small the portions are at this restaurant. We were still hungry after eating here, and ended up going to Pancho Villa on 16th St for something a lille more(actually a lot more)filling. Down with tiny portions!

Adam, great job on the show! Dining and "wine-ing" (sorry about the pun) have always been your forte, so it was natural to see you on a restaurant review show. Your review was detailed and thorough, and a nice read. You should do this more often.

DOWN WITH BEETS! :-D
