I just had dinner there with 5 other people. I haven't been to Viognier in a long while, 3 plus years. The last time I was there I had brunch and it was just okay. The waffles I had were slightly burned. I can say the restaurant has changed for the better after last nights experience. I believe Gary Danko used to work at the restaurant, but again that was very long ago. Three of the people had the 5 course tasting menu $85, one had the short ribs, and I had the Ahi tuna. If you like the flavor of truffles, then the tasting menu was great. It was a great choice to sample many dishes, scallops, risotto, tri tip, and a chocolate banana crepe desert. I enjoyed my Ahi, though wished it had more blood orange slices and maybe less of a juicy/watery garnish. The tuna was fresh, but still had a little sinew. It was nice to try Ahi besides at a sushi restaurant. I had the 3 sorbet sampler for dessert. The Kiwi, Blood Orange and pear sorbet were intense in flavor. My favorite was the pear. This is an expensive restaurant and is well suited for special occasions. The atmosphere was quiet enough to talk to everyone in our group. We had a nice round table that was near the window that overlooked a nice balcony.

The service has gone done hill since the opening. Unless you're doing a TV show, it will take 20+ minutes to get drinks and 1 hour to get dinner. The atmosphere is nice, but given the high prices one does expect better trained waiters. Others complained that the bartender shortchanged their drinks putting only 2oz of alcohol rather than the 4 oz the menu stated. Try Capellini's or Kingfish, both which are walking distance for a much better, funner and cheaper experience even for special occassions.
