I don't mean to sound mean but are you serious?! Really? A pallet might be helpful when eating food. The food was not disgusting to where I had to leave although I'm not picky but the food was nothing to rave about. Try eating a lot of South Indian food over long periods of time from many vendors even home cooked authentic South Indian food and then compare. Texture and the right combination of spice is the key to South Indian food as is for many cuisines and Udupi missed the mark (mostly on spice). If you want really good South Indian food try the South bay Palo Alto, San Jose, etc. where most of the South Indians live in the bay area. I grew up as an Italian American but have been eating South Indian food for 13 years including many home cooked meals from South Indians in Kerala and from experience I can say Udupi Palace counts as sustinance only. Reviews like this on food like that dishearten me so. If you call yourselves food critics then, "Job please!"
