I visited this restaurant after watching an episode of Check Please.

Appetizers: The Pig Salad was delicious and fresh, but the Salt cod and potato brandade was too salty.

Entrees: My gf had the grilled hanger steak, which was extraordinarily tender and flavorful. I had the roast liberty duck breast, which was perfectly chewy, flavorful, and had the just the right amount of fat. The duck was served with a red sauce that was wonderfully hearty and sweet.

Dessert: My dessert wasn't memorable. My gf's chocolate pudding with raspberry was excessively sweet.

Our friend's eclair (one of their signature creations), Sauteed chicken, and braised lamb cheeks all tasted rather pedestrian. The chicken was only slightly tastier than the Grilled Chicken at your local KFC.

The bill for my gf and I came out to ~102 (2x prefix dinners, no drinks, tax, tip) which I was very happy to pay because the pig Salad, hanger steak, and duck breast were exceptional.

Unlike your modal French restaurants, the portions were filling.

We were in a group, and there was an accounting error, so we ended up paying $132 for a dinner for 2 (they added an additional $30). Bear in mind that our subtotal was only $78. I begrudgingly paid $132 because I did not want to make a scene and the waiter asserted that his calculations were accurate.

The 2 reasons why I rated this restaurant 3 stars instead of 4 were:
1) We paid $132 dollars for a $78 subtotal; I would have been happy to pay $102.
2) My gf wanted the crispy pork belly, but they didn't have the correct ingredients available. I am quite unforgiving about restaurants that charge a premium, but cannot live up to their menu.

I felt that the waiter was tactless in adding $30 to our bill without consulting us.

I would otherwise be happy to enthusiastically recommend this restaurant to others. However, because of the 2 aforementioned reasons, I will not be returning.
