Interesting comments... I heard the prices on the Forbes were high but I had not really thought about the weather component. I just envisioned a peaceful and relaxing boat dinner. I better choose a nice day to go or I will spend most of my time trying to hold my table setting on the table and no time talking with my fellow travelers.

Ok, So the prices are high and the food might be mediocre, but the "captain" of the ferry is the original owner of the island. He built it himself and lived in it for a time before moving it to the San Francisco waterfront. The least you can do is give the guy a lousy 3 bucks for his work.... i mean, he IS coming to pick you up, right? like kris says, it's a unique treat, and i think it's worth going back to again.

I went to Forbes Island restaurant for a pre-prom dinner. I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant, especially since we were on a boat while eating. Being that it was prom night, the prices were expected to be a bit high, so it didn't ruin the meal. The salmon and rice was very tasty. The place was overall very pleasant and festive. The one drawback was the transportation to and fro. The boat ride, only about 15-30 seconds, costs $2- $3 per person, I don't quite remember. For a nice occasion, and if you don't mind the prices, it is a great restaurant to try.
