At the recommendation of a friend and after watching the review on KQED, decided to give Suppenküche a try.

Noticing that 75% of the menu was pork, decided to try the skirt steak which came with gratin potatoes. My friends all ordered the wiener schnitzel.

To sum things up, the food was pretty terrible. The schnitzel was dry, the steak unremarkable and the salads laughably created and presented. The service was above average and the waitresses very pleasant and helpful.

If you're looking for a very loud, Munich beer hall experience, this is the place. There are lots of people drinking from large glass boots and getting hammered while waiting for their tables.

This is not the restaurant if one is seeking carefully crafted and presented food, good wine and a nice conversation. It's just a half step away from being the perfect frat-party environment.

I love the atmosphere at Suppenkuche and the beer selection. However, I think the food needs improvement. A few Swabian chefs are needed to make the food more authentic tasting and looking. I am a pro on Maultaschen, and theirs doesn't come close. Also, they could add some very interesting German desserts that I don't see on the menu. Machts besser!
