Leslie SbroccoMy name is Leslie Sbrocco and I’m the host of Check, Please! Bay Area. After each episode I’ll serve up a behind-the-scenes look at what went on during filming, including the wine we were sipping…

On the Check, Please! staff, this is known jokingly as the episode where “two girls attacked the guy.” It was the first time we had the balance of two women and one male. But it was, hands down, the wildest show we’d shot (minus Brian’s barking on episode two). When I first got on the set and met Jewel and Mel, I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. Mel is a comedienne and Jewel a power drummer. What a combo. Then I met Joseph who was articulate but fairly restrained. I thought, “He doesn’t stand a chance with these two femmes fatales!” But, he held his own admirably and the interaction proved ideal. Our show was racy and raucous.

Wine of the Week:

2004 Grant Burge “Summer’s” Chardonnay, South Australia $18
2004 Grant Burge “Summer’s” Chardonnay, South Australia $18
In the sun-baked Barossa region of Australia, Chardonnay shines. This one is loaded with tropical fruitiness and a smooth, creamy texture.

Sponsor Wine of the Week:

2002 Bonterra Syrah, Mendocino County, California $20
Syrah (also known as Shiraz) is known for its spicy, peppery character. Ripe dark berry fruit flavors are complemented by a touch of cocoa aromas. Pour this alongside roasted meats and even dark chocolate.
