We found Universal Cafe to be a universally not great place. OK, that's harsh but the restaurant is much too crowded w/ a long bench. We felt like we were in a large communal sort of banquet completely mashed together. If you like being mooshed together w/ strangers, this is your place. We prefer to sit at a table & enjoy our meal.
The waitress was also not the most pleasant witnessed by never being friendly, no smile, hey-it's-a-job kind of attitude.
The food was good, not great, but w/ these kind of crowded (did I mention crowded), loud (I didn't mention loud but, believe me, loud) "ambience" it just wasn't good enough.
We'll pass on Universal Cafe.

Universal is great for brunch, too! You can tell the caliber of a chef by their eggs, and theirs are always perfectly poached or scrambled (when you order them that way, of course). From the coffee to the trout hash, everything is expertly prepared.
