Between watching my mother and father cook, reading my mother’s earmarked copy of The New York Times cookbook (circa 1970 or so), and Julia Child on Public Television I learned to appreciate that cooking was not just about filling a hungry frame with fuel, but also about art and craft and feeling. About engaging ALL of the senses in the preparation of love.
Thank you, Julia. Thank you Public Television. Thank you Mom.

Monsieur Pepin, I have been watching and enyoing this weekend’s tribute to Julia Child. It warms my heart to see how you always deferred to Mrs. Child when your food preparation techniques differed. You always acquiesced. What a wonderful example of respect and affection. You are the epitome of class. Thank you for your years of commitment and dedication to the craft. On this anniversary of Mrs. Child’s birth my message to her is: Julia, the Angels smile when it’s your turn to prepare the feast. Bon appetit to all of you.

I have such fond memories of watching Jacques and Julia and still enjoy watching the old shows. Love watching Jaccques’ shows now as well. Thank you for the memories Jacques, and your are so missed Julia!
