This is exactly the kind of cafe the Tea Party would like to see more of–one that doesn’t need any government regulation whatsoever! It doesn’t need business permits, or health department inspections. And thank god it doesn’t need to pay taxes or workman’s compensation, either! All that stuff is nothing but godless SOCIALISM!

Ms. Henry, if you and the owners of Rogue don’t like the laws that prevent experiments like Rogue from being allowed, why don’t you work with your local governments to get them changed for *everyone* instead of just acting entitled and breaking any laws you find inconvenient?

Berkeleyside is notorious for having a group of five or seven super-snarks as readers who deride everything via the comments section. They are so uniformly downbeat I rarely read the comments. The articles posted on the site tend to be just the opposite: presenting positive things happening in the community. I think that was the spirit behind the article.
