Wrapping the orange up in a towel essentially insulates it. That was a lame idea from the start.
You need one of the new-fangled dryers that have the ability to hold a stationary rack in place. Place fruit on an open wire rack and then onto the stationary rack.

Nice recipe. In the winter, the oven is generally more envirnmentally friendly than the dryer anyway. The heat from the oven will help heat your house. The heat from the dryer will vent outside.

I love this idea! My front loader dryer comes with a rack that you can put things like tennis shoes to dry so they don’t bang around (the drum still spins but the rack stays put. I might try that with fruit or other non-drippy/wet food. I love the way you think!

I love that you tried to dry oranges in the dryer!! Also love that your Mother sends oranges to you in California! These do look good, no such thing as a Honeybell orange here though!

Bwahahahahaha…I can not believe I haven’t tried this yet. Of course, I wouldn’t have been as smart as you to make sure my fruit was contained. Hence my undies would probably smell citrusy fresh.
