Yes, they cut cooking time substantially. I have cooked a turkey in 1/2 the time in a convection oven.

Yes. I’m using a convection oven, although I’m amazed it cuts the cooking time in half. Wow. I inserted a note. Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it.

Denise – I used a cast iron pan and the oven was preheated. Also noticed the comment from another person they baked it for 35 and it wasn’t done yet.
Are you using a convection oven? I know when I’ve used a convection oven things definitely cook faster. Thanks again for the recipe. -David

Hi David — I’m so glad you liked the cake. Did it really take 45 minutes to bake? I’ve made it a few times and it always takes between 23 and 25 minutes. I wonder if my cooking time is faster b/c I bake it in a cast-iron pan. I’ll add a note to the recipe. Thanks for your comment and happy holidays :-)

This is a great recipe. I just made it to take to a potluck dinner with friends, everybody loved it! One major problem though, it took 45 min to cook not 20-25. When I looked in my cookbooks I realized 40-45 min is pretty standard for a cake of this dimension. Please correct your recipe.
