Kris-- Perhaps turning the fork over is simply more proper. I was never taught that, but that certainly doesn&#039;t mean it isn&#039;t correct. From a service standpoint, turning the fork over-- while it sends a crystal clear signal of  doneness-- is slightly more of a hazard in terms of slipping off the plate than leaving it right side up.</description>

		<description>I was always taught to turn my fork over on the plate.  I have been in several fine dining restaurants where the wait staff was excited that I knew what to do when I had finished my meal. Is this wrong or another version of the 10:00 placement?</description>
